Smusht is a local family owned business open year round in the heart of Port Washington. We make small batch hand-crafted ice cream and freshly baked cookies. We smush them together to make a Smusht.

Like many business ideas, Smusht was a pandemic pivot. We sold our first ice cream sandwich in the fall of 2020—but in actuality, our founder Steve had dreamed of creating an ice cream business for 15 years. A self-taught cookie and ice cream maker, he loved the idea of opening a store where customers could build their own ice cream sandwiches and walk out the door feeling a little bit happier than when they came in. After selling a medical-supply business in 2018, Steve had an opportunity to reevaluate his career path; all it took was a challenge from his wife Sara, and he decided to go for it. What started as an operation akin to a lemonade stand in his front yard has evolved into a fixture of the community that brings sweetness (and lots of smiles) to faces young and old.
